After kick down, Auto holding lower gear
My car has just under 2,500 miles on the odometer. I searched for threads addressing this, but didn't find it.
In the past week, there have been several times when after punching the gas to pass and thereby downshifting (in Auto), the car doesn't want to let go of the lower gear and revs upward to 5K. Maybe if I were more patient it would've, but I switched to manual and upshifted that way.
Another change I've noticed recently that might not be a bad thing, but may be related. In Auto, the shift points have shifted WAY up. Under moderate acceleration, the Tach is going up to 5K ... didn't used to do this.
I routinely use both manual (paddles) and Auto, mixed.
Have I got a problem? Any thoughts?

Don't let up on the gas pedal!!, it will upshift by its self!! By letting off the pedal, it thas to "think" that Now you are De accelerating, Sort of trying to go in two different modes at once. Does this help? Works for me. Got over 10k, and shift likes a well oiled machine! But if I do, what you do!! Well thats hat happens!!

I notice it as well. If you back off of the throttle and then accelerate more gently it will upshift in a second or so.
If it is wanting to hold revs all of the time, I wonder if your kickdown switch might be stuck (the click you feel when you stand on the pedal).
I had some other strangeness tonight (in the general forum) with my transmission. I'm not terribly concerned, as long as this is a one-off thing.

In auto mode mine's been holding gears longer, especially after kickdown. I've got 6700 miles and only use auto sparingly... usually when doing something stupid like using the phone in rush hour traffic.
But it still shifts at a reasonable RPM.

Hmmm, click when I stand on the pedal. Never noticed a click, I'll pay more attention. The thing that troubles me is that this is new behavior. I've had my car for more than two months.

Is 5K reasonable? Again, it is the change in behavior which concerns me.

My opinion would be no since the car seems to have some preference to shift at around 3000 RPMs normally. If you're standing on the gas maybe its normal. Unless I want it to rev that high I don't get the car holding a shift for that long. My home remedy would be to try the pull the battery cable trick and hope the computer resets itself to factory... of course that may or may not work. Since this whole car seems to rely on a computer for everything it might work... then again it might cause more problems.
How close is your dealer? Is the problem consistent? Same gear combo (like 5th to 4th) or after any kickdown?

I personally use it in the auto mode all of the times. As I stated prior, cars tranny has no lag, upshifts fast, smooth, and when others drive they say the same thing, shift great. I did change the air filter,K@N, have DTH first Gen single exhust. That seemed to improve the whole shifting issues.I also keep the accelerator pedal steady, don't let of it.This car has gotten much better with age, or I got better driving it!

I'll get back to this after checking it out further with your questions in mind. But, I can say it is not consistant. And, my closest dealer is 300 miles away.
