Hi Guys
Im wondering if anyone has figured out what to use for an Air Filter yet. Other than the stock factory filter.

Thanks

There's also a nice one from Breathless Performance Products. I've had both, no performance difference between them that I could tell, however, the BPP seems a bit better made.

We stock all the filters (aFe, K&N, Breathless and the SmartCar Performance Cold Air Intake) that are made and in our opinion the very best drop in filter in the market for performance, quality and value at this time is aFe. Here is the direct product link to both of these filters. We also have the others on our site and as always we aim to have the lowest price:

smart car Air Filter - aFe Pro 5R (pre-oiled)

smart car Air Filter - aFe Pro Dry S (dry media)

If we can be of any assistance please do not hesitate to call us direct at 562-961-6800 (10-6 pacific).

Thank you!

I picked mine up from Breathless Performance Products. It is a well made unit.

I myself have the K&N drop-in replacement. But as with any of those filters, there's a definate difference in feel over stock..

I have had a k&n filter in my roady for 5 years with no problems, I have only cleaned it once, great sound, a nice sucky noise and it smooths out the gearchange a little, that is why I changed it from stock as I read it smooths the change, and it does, but smartmadness sound as if they know what they are talking about, (wish they would open a branch in Sheffield), so I would get in touch with them and get their opinion.
Get it done it is a great cheap mod and should be the first thing you do after buying the car.
Keep the old stock filter and change it over if you have to take the car into the dealers, takes 30 secs.

K&N and BPP definitely improve performance (by "seat-of-the-pants-dyno" anyway) Another reason to keep the factory one is so you can use it while your other one is drying after a cleaning.

K&N makes a kit to clean and re-oil the filter. Most local auto stores should have it in stock. A side benefit of the K&N is that it also improves mileage. Mine went up about 2 mpg after changing it.
