Air Cleaner Element for 20K maintainance

I'm assuming this is the air engine filter that's located to the left side of the engine (08 Passion). Anyone knows who makes this filter and what's the filter number I need to order?

Thanks.

Pavy, Why on earth would you go and put in a disposable filter????? alot of us put in a K&N washable air filter that will last longer than your car... and all you do is every so often take it out wash it, re-oil it and put the little guy back in your smart. For doing that you will save time, money, fuel, and in a tiny little way the planet... and as a bonus the car will breathe easier as the K&N filters are less restrictive to air but capture more of the dirt.... win win win situation!

~The Air Filter Test Charts Tell No Lies~
~The Can't Miss Thread On Air-Filters~
What is the assessment of the engine air filters that are on the market for the Smart
So I want a air filter to filter the dirt out... Do we drive around with our foot flat wide Open all the time, looking for Max air flow...Not... My car will zip down the freeway using about 1/4 throttle at 85 MPH, just sipping at the total capacity of the filter...!!! How often are we looking for that extra 1 1/2 HP that a Bad (performance) air filter would give us at the expense of putting more dirty air in our engines...???

I would sure like to have that AC air filter in the Test that does the best job of keeping dirt out of my engine, and lasts the longest between air filter changes (engines last longer with less dirt in them)... I guess I will make my plea right here right now that AC please make a Air Filter for our Smart Cars...!!! Please along with me, send AC-Delco a E-mail telling them we want them to make a Air Filter for our cars...<:-))
~contact~
http://www.acdelco.com/contact/

Note: When I take my Vette to the Drag Strip, I take the air filter OUT to make Max HP for short trips of 1/4 mile at a time for a short amount of seconds letting a short amount seconds of dirt into the engine... For the normal amount of driving hours put on our cars we should put in the best filter we can find for it (least amount of dirt passed through)...

Fixed.

Oiled gauze filters I thought by now were widely acknowledged to be junk. Do a Google search, plenty of tests out there. Aftermarket is going "dry."
DryFlow Air Filters - Oil Free Replacement Air Filters and Cone Filters

To answer the OP's question, OE or equivalent paper is fine.

Oh good grief.... let's not beat this dead horse again.

To each his own, you like the OE paper filters, I'll keep my K&N. All the OP wanted to know is what's available, let them make up their own mind.

To the OP: as has been posted, there are a lot of options out there, buy what you're comfortable with and go out and enjoy your smart!

Thanks for your responses. It looks like I can get the NAPA one from my local store. I did the oil change by myself last year for $30 and it was a piece of cake and don't want to break the bank at the dealer.

The OEM part number is A 001 094 03 01. "A 001..." indicates that it is not unique to the 451 smart (then it woud be "A 451..." or "A 132..."). It is possible that it is of Japanese manufacture (Tokyo Roki, Denso?).

Mann+Hummel (who supplies OEM intake air, oil and fuel filters for the 450 smart, and OEM fuel and cabin air filters for the 451) has an intake air filter for the 451 "in preparation."

Last edited by Old smart; 03-16-2010 at 03:07 PM. Reason: Add "A 132...," relating to the M-B M132 (Mitsu 3B21) engine.
