Alarm goes off reloaded

My car has 6000 miles now and since 4000 miles had the issue of the alarm going off after 2 minutes to 2 hours after I drived the car and arm the alarm,no issues if you turn off the motion detector, went to the dealer 4 times and last one he change the motion detector module and the car still has the intermitent alarm problem,
Last nite we arrive at home at 11 pm and the alarm went off at 3 am...

Good news. Sounds like another bad sensor.

The tow sensor this time?

The Prince of Darkness still lives in the Euro cars.

an interesting side note....since the weather has turned cold, we have had no more false alarms with our smart. I wonder if these false alarms (and the motion sensor) are heat related?

when I had my alarm going off for no reason for 2 days I finally saw the fly and got him out of the car. The alarm stopped going off.

The heat question was brought up in the context of the summer day heat and cool nights once before. My dealer service people didn't buy that as a cause so they replaced the motion sensor in mine. That was back in May and there haven't been any false alarms since.

true, the heat may not affect a good motion sensor...but the bottomline is that the alarm went off on ours on a semi-regular basis thru the summer, but has not (that we are aware off) the last couple of months!

After three trips back to the dealer for service, the last one with them having the smart passion coupe for three days, the motion sensor was finally replaced!

I had the same intermittant false alarms with the smart in the garage and also in the driveway...locked using the remote...set the alarm...alarm goes off intermittantly.

By the way...the alarm and sensors are NOT connected to the car's computer for fault code recording. At one point, when comparing my car to a Mercedes, the service advisor said the car wasn't too smart as it wouldn't report alarm faults!

I tried to get them to replace both the motion sensor and the siren/towing sensor, but the service advisor stated that smart USA would only allow for one part being replaced at a time.

Great car. Service...well not so great.

I hope that this is the only bug in what is otherwise a perfect car.

PM for more info.
