MB's 229.5 specs (for a Mitsu engine ??) were designed for fuel savings and "extended maintenance/drain" (18K miles, or so, if my kilometers-to-miles math is correct). A 6, 7, or 8k drain and filter swap with on-sale supplies will certainly meet manufacturer muster and save you some $$$.

Because Castrol Syntec and Mobil 1 are inferior to Amsoil when it comes to quality, oil consumption, etc. I've seen multiple tests and Amsoil beats them. I only want the best oil in the world for a high-revving 3-cylinder engine so that when I get over 100,000 miles, the engine will still run like brand spanking new with virtually 0% wear.
If I can't find a compatible Amsoil oil filter, I will have to go the Bosch route or some maybe an expensive Mobil 1 oil filter. The Amsoil oil filters are the best out there. I met the guy in person who help design them. He had to go to over 100 different companies around the globe to find the best synthetic media to use. Their oil filters last up to 1 year or 25,000 miles (guaranteed) and are only $12 or $13. I could go through a LOT of oil filters with all the driving I do and spend a lot more.
Check this out... pretty impressive:
