Another "your car is the first to ..." for me (Re: door latch)

Earlier this year, I got to make a bunch of trips to the dealer for BLS (Brake Light Switch) issues. I had intermittent failures with one switch and, in my opinion, improper adjustment on the new BLSs so that the car continued to show symptoms similar to when the BLS with intermittent failures was installed. After the third BLS was installed, the dealer, after consulting with Auburn Hills and Germany, said "your car is the first to have this problem".

This afternoon, I brought my car in to get the broken passenger interior latch release fixed. You try to open the car from the passenger seat and the latch handle just pivots out with no resistance until it is as far back/out as it will go. The latch handle was broken where the cable attaches to it. The service writer said "We have sold 1600 cars and your car is the first to have this happen."

My smart is truly exceptional.

Why after reading that do I get the feeling it's a attack smart post. The car is what is, if you expected it to be perfect you're sadly mistaken. I think you could have issue with any brand out there. If you don't like smart so much get rid of it and stop coming off all "it's a piece of junk" on a smart forum. I'm sorry something about this post rubs me the wrong way.

(for that matter the other posts in recent past did too that I didn't comment on of other owners with complaint after complaint on their car but I can't find the posts right now)

rules!

Please take a moment and reconsider things. While the post may rub you the wrong way there appears to be no objective reason to react as you did. Nowhere could I figure out how to imply "piece of junk" from this post or in my glancing of other posts from the user.

Who's the owner of the giant chill pill?

When the 451 was first distrbuted in the UK after SEP '07 there were many reports of door latch problems. Dunno what was done to fix the problem, but the complaints seem to have ceased. It did start out as a weak spot.

Neither did I... and this is an open forum - if the OP wants to vent about the problems they experienced it is their right. Nowhere in the rules does it say it is all rainbows and teddy bears around here... people need to quit looking for a fight in every thread - it gets old.

The Question is, Is it an easy fix. It shouldn't take much to swap out an new handle.
