Any other dealers using black Mitsubishi oil filters?

It's probably just creeping paranoia but the oil filter on my car after the 20k service is a black Mitsubishi one. Ok, it's a Mitubishi engine so why am I concerned? Well, because I have a case of them in the basement and that's what I put on 5K miles ago. The original filter and the one they used at the 10k service were both labeled smart. The fact that the 10 silly magnets I had on it were replaced in exactly the same pattern also makes me wonder if the filter was actually changed. My service adviser assured me that they now use oil filters labeled Mitsubishi and I'd like to believe him. Knowing that other members are also sporting black Mitsu oil filters after a dealer oil change would sure make me feel better. Anyone????

???

What's the deal now? Were you questioning whether the service provider actually changed the filter?

Is the oil clean? In the end it will come to his word and how much you trust him.

The filter that was on my smart at delivery was black and said neither Mitsubishi nor smart - it said Tokyo Roki. I bought another at the time and it was the same, and came in a Mitsubishi box with a smart label and part number stuck on it. smart #A 132 180 00 10, Mitsu #1230A040.

If you have doubts, reach underneath before taking it in and put a dab of paint, or marker on it, or scratch it with a screwdriver.

Havng finally found original MitsubishiI service information for the Mitsu MIVEC-type engine (which our 3B21 is), I noted an interesting thing: they schedule a filter change every OTHER oil change (and the normal service OCI is 7,500 miles, not 10,000). The normal OCI for 3B20T turbo MIVEC in the Mitsu i car is 6,000 miles.

That said, I plan on continuing with my severe service, 5k + filter regimen.

Perhaps that is because 10 000 kilometer = 6,213.711 mile

SO they just called it 6,000 miles

It is 6,000 miles, not 10K kilometers, at least in the UK.

The significant thing about it is that it comes directly from Mitsu and not filtered and swayed through M-B/smart.
