Anybody having problems with tranny engaging?

On occasion, our car does not seem to want to go into gear. It has failed to go into reverse when put into reverse and has failed to go into drive when put into drive.

Anyone else?

Just an idea: do you feel like trying to "re-teach" your car's computer (ECU) its gears pattern?
See:

Hope it helps. Keep us posted.
Thank you.

This can also occur if the vehicle has not come to a complete stop. The vehicle is hesitant to engage a gear if it thinks the vehicle is still in motion. Being computer controled the trans can only go off the info it is being given.

The obvious thing is you are not putting your foot on the footbrake while shifting into gear, this is the main cause of trouble, try it and get back to me on this post

The parking brake will disable clutch engagement at idle. Make sure it is completely off and the light is out.

I had 2 major chassis shakin' clunks today in reverse...reminded me of putting Jeep in 4-wheel drive & gears grinding...

I would try the "learn" sequence so you have the best possible alignment of the sensors to the control unit just for grins.

I carry my Cabrio often in the garage of a motorcoach. I like the car being backed in so the little bit of engine weight is more toward the coach rear axle line. This means backing up a ramp whilst having it centered in the garage and stopping at just the right spot and hopefully not driving through the wall and stuff like that.

This seems to work just fine as long as I use the hand brake to control the car and keeping the revs up. If I use the foot brake then goofy stuff happens with the reverse creep or sumthin and it makes me nuts. With hand brake control all is well and loading the Cabrio up the ramp is a no sweat deal, even with wet tires and such.

Visit dealer asap before they have to tow it there. I just had mine towed because of a faulty gear shift lever. In all probability it will be replaced. It's a quick cure if that's what's the problem.
