Attention Smartcar Dealers! I Need Help!

Smart Team:

Not sure if this is the correct venue, but I am desperate! My NEW little Passion has been sitting in the shop at Dallas Smartcenter for over a week now. It has a defective brake switch (you know, locked in park, no break lights, ABS and ESP dash indicators ON). They still cannot give me any idea of when or even IF they can get the switch at all. I want my new car back!

If any of you dealers can get them a new switch; I don't care if you have to take it out of a display car, I need one bad! They don't seem to have the same priorities as I do, but I know some of you do!

As Americans, we are generally an ingenious bunch of people. Don't tell us we CAN'T do something, because WE will figure out a way it CAN be done. All I am asking is that some of those few remaining rebellious Americans step up to the plate and help a guy out. I will be forever in your debt.

You seriously need to call the 1800 customer service line and demand that they have your district rep contact you. I'm sorry but your dealer isnt going to make anything happen for you and the 1800 # is useless, so you need to make them have the rep in your area contact you and he will make it happen.

Pointed out numerous times on the forum, UPS, FedEX, DHL, etc. all ship both ways. No reason smart can't get a part from Europe to a dealer in 2-3 days IMHO.

of course before we find a rope and lynch the dealer, in all fairness the problem was only diagnosed on thursday....4 days ago!

still, I hope smartusa has plans for a distribution warehouse Stateside!

Bull just called me about this part and from what I find, the switch is on the leading edge of the brake pedal assembly. The part number is A452 545 00 09 and the Tulsa Distribution Center shows 5 on backorder. The manager says Dallas should have theirs for Kidbyte Wednesday or Thursday. Everything seems to have been handled correctly from the smart center in Dallas. They ordered it as soon as it was diagnosed and had Germany ship it VOR (Vehicle Off Road), this is absolutely the fastest method a smart center can get it. Best of luck to you Kidbyte!

I think they might have....but it still wasn't fast enough?

And I do see from Paul's post that there IS a US distribution site..that's good!
