Audible door locking

My smart does not have an alarm system and so no chirp when I lock the door. With my other cars I have gotten very used to the short chirp when I lock the doors and would like to have this on the smart. Has anyone tried to wire the horn or other noise device into the locking system to have an audible confirmation when the doors are locked? I realize there is visual confirmation but still would like to hear a short noise when locking the car. I'd be interested in any mods that anyone has tried to accomplish this. I've read most of the posts re after market alarm systems and would rather not mess with these.

You can, in fact, hear the doors locking when you press the lock button.

No real need for a "chirp" to irritate anyone else in audible range.

Yes, audible pollution IS a pet peeve of mine...

Mine too. Like the boom car that stops on the corner and literally rattles the windows in my living room.

But, I like the chirps.

Now, if I was getting home from work at 5:00 AM, maybe I would feel differently.

The request was for helpful information. I have not interest in your pet peeves.

Hate the chirps. Way too loud and as such, very intrusive when locking the car late at night; especally in garage.

I asked my dealer if there was a way to disable the chirps and just retain the flashing lights, but I was told that it wasn't possible.

Believe me, be thankful if you don't have the chirps they are very annoying.

I love my chirps, they sound like a poison dart frog!

If you really want to hear an obnoxious noise, sit in a car with the alarm system, car completely shut off and key out, then lock the doors...in about 30 seconds you'll hear a really high pitched sound coming from the car! The internal sensors are awesome!
