Just a quick note.

This morning first drive out of the garage, the drive-lock feature unknowingly stopped working. Doors and rear window all closed properly. Not exactly sure why.

But I remedied (or activated) it according to page 84 of the owner's manual.

There are two automatic re-lock functions in the smart: the re-lock above 8MPH, and a re-lock if the doors are left closed on a stationary car for 60 seconds. Interestingly, the first works properly on my car, but the second has never worked. In the owner’s manual, I can find no way to enable or disable the feature. However, this is a “malfunction” with which I am pleased, since I find the 60-second re-lock or alarm-arming on modern vehicles exceedingly annoying.

If my car fails to lock as I drive away I know somting is not shut right and will stop and check the doors and rear hatch until the culprit is found. The other is when you use the key fob to unlock the car and start chatting with someone it will relock after x time. That has been my experiance.

Hello! I have something to ask you if you are willing to help me. I own a Smart Roadster and I have the same problem - drive lock function is not working anymore. The problem is that the owner manual is in german and I cannot understand german. Could you please post here the exact steps to relock the doors during the drive session?

Thank you in advance!

From page 84 (for the 451)
Drive lock function
The vehicle locks automatically when the igni
tion is switched on and the wheels are turning
at vehicle speeds of approximately 8 mph
(14 km/h) or more. The drive lock function is
enabled at the factory.
> Switching on: Switch off the ignition.
> Press the central locking switch
( page 85) and buttonª on the key
simultaneously.
An acoustic signal sounds.
The drive lock function is switched on.
> Switching off: Switch off the ignition.
> Press the central unlocking switch
( page 85) and button© on the key
simultaneously.
An acoustic signal sounds.
The drive lock function is switched off.
