Automatic door locking stopped happening - fixed thanks to forum replies!

I just noticed that my doors no longer lock themselves when I get to 10/15mph.

I can lock them manually from the button on the dash or the key fob.

Does anyone know anything quick to check? This is a 2008 cabrio.
I once had a problem where the doors would not lock via the key fob and that was related to the tailgate not being fully latched (but that is not the case this time).

I can/will take it in for warranty service, but was hoping that someone had seen it before and maybe I am missing something simple.

thanks.

Have you tried re-activating the feature? My manual is in the car so I can't look up the exact procedure, but it's very, very simple. When All Ball came back from service last time, the auto-lock was inactive. I simply activated it again, and all is fine now.

Thanks! That got it working

Padawan & JPaul

Thanks! That did the trick. I used the steps you pointed out to re-enable the auto-lock feature and it is working fine now.

Wow that was fast! Thanks again for the replies.

Thanks for this posting. My auto locks stopped working also, so I'll try this fix tonight when I get home.

I noticed it after this post had started and realized that when I went around to open the wife's door to let her out. She had pushed the unlock same time I did so it shut it off. So, now I don't push my unlock on the keys and make sure she just unlocks the door. Hehe.

Smart Roadster - Key is locked

Hi I have a problem switching on my Roadster. The thing is that the key didn't function and the car was locked. So I had to remove the cover from the "manual" opening and then as I tried to switch on the car I got the "key" message on the screen and the key does not function any more.
Does anyone have a clue on what I am talking about and is then able to help?
Regards
Throstur

Hi! This happened to me right after I'd sent in my smartbiru for inspection last Friday. I thought it was a one-off thing when I noticed the car not locking that evening, but today, I drove about 200 miles with an eye on the auto-locking feature and true enough, it wasn't happening. So came back home and searched SCOA on the issue.

What I remember was the mechanic who did the inspection, a relatively new hire to the company, was all excited getting his hands on his first ever smart . Called it "a very large, very fast golf cart", but he was impressed with the ride. I'd say he was the one trying all the buttons!

It's too late now to be out there to re-activate the feature, but will do it tomorrow. Glad to have found this thread.

Re-activate, re-set, teach-in, dis-connect the battery then re-connect it, wait 2 minutes, shut it off and then restart....what the hell happened to car parts that when they broke they stayed broken until repaired or replaced? They've gone crazy with all this computer crap! First it works, then it doesn't, then it does, then it still does, now it doesn't...S***********T!!!
