Back in the day, dare I say it........AMSOIL..........used to sell something similar. I still have a set. What they had was essentially metal plates with a rubberized/plastic "u" that was fixed to the metal portion and it had lead pellets inside of it. Theory was, once you got going itwould balance out your wheels. I still have a set tucked away in the garage. I need to dig them out for conversations sake........they are "AMSOIL", so that makes it an awesome conversation piece on SCOA.

The reality is that AMSOIL products are no better or worse than other products. It is just that their semi-direct marketing and commissions model, combined with the distribution of lots of proselytizing materials leads to over-zealousness. A single, prime example lived here for a while. You get the same thing in the racing world with “Red Line.”

To AMSOIL’s credit, when I talked to their technical people about EaO full-synthetic filters they were honest and explicit in telling me that none were suitable for a smart due to their ¾”-16 threading. They also disclosed to me very early-on in ’08 the inside information that Wix was working on what is now the #57040 filter listed for smart (by that same proposed number).

Too much AMSOIL knocking can easily lead to uncalled-for baiting and bashing.

I have used this product on my old Harley shovelhead and was very impressed by how much vibration it eliminated.I had installed it on the compensating (engine)sprocket and on the clutch and it smoothed it out so much it felt like a different bike .I would not be afraid to try it on anything.

Actually, I like the looks of their balancers that fit on the driveshafts. I've dealt with similar items before such as fluid filled harmonic balancers. Had a 402 that we just couldn't get a vibration out of even after the installation of the fluid filled harmonic balancer. In the end, just threw a whole new motor in the truck and set the other motor off to the side.

As far as Amsoil. I'm a firm believer in the stuff, but I don't consider it the end all product. Some people are members of the Amsoil cult. Therefor, it could be a religion, therefor I guess we should not discuss it any further beyond my post. Sorry Jedi.
