Its not the Alarm, its definitely the door ajar/lights on type chime, coming from the interior, nothing to do with alarm.

gotcha. yep, i get the same thing every once in a while. weird because i understand that the electronics on the Smart are MB. would have thought that would happen. perhaps it's also somehow linked to the shifter issue...would make sense.

While it may not be a real bother, it could possibly be a bother, or a warning of a larger bother. I think I'll have mine checked out just to be safe. The poster above mentioned it could be related to the shifting problem, that is a possibility!

I am having the same problem as described in the initial post. When I pay attention to what I do when I stop and exit, it never happens. It only seems to happen when I am not expecting it. I thought it might have something to do with turning off the key and opening the door quickly but I can't seem to reproduce it.
It would be great if somebody could come up with a reproducible action. That would help in getting it reported and fixed.

I have a coupe with Comfort package and alarm.

This past Friday, when I got in my car (451) and started the engine (just before I strapped on the seat belt) the interior car warning chime started beeping. At first, I thought that I had left the door ajar, but that was not the case. As I drove home from work, it continued to beep the entire trip. I looked at the instrument cluster to see if there were any warning lights- there were none. I noticed that the interior light was switched on, and I do not recall if I had switched it on when I entered the car or, if it was on all day. I have a Karr Track vehicle tracking device installed. I put the tracking device in valet mode as I drove, thinking this would stop the chimes. When I arrived home, I turned the engine off and took the key out, I then re-inserted the key and started the engine again; the chiming had stopped. This is the first time that this has happened.

I have had it happen at least three times in the past 2 weeks so far, including tonight when I got home. The beep, beep was lower in volume than if I open the door with the key in. I restarted and shut down, but the beep continued. When I turned the lights from auto to off, it stopped. Turned it back to auto and it started again. Restarted the car and turned it off twice, finally cleared it. I also had the the low tire pressure go off one morning - it was 12 degrees and I thought it might have beent eh low temp. Drove it a bit, cleared it twice and finally stayed off. I have an appointment on Wednesday for the linkage checkout, so I plan to mention it while I'm there.

Mine does this all the time. I have no alarm, and no comfort package. It seems to me that it beeps at me when I pull into a parking spot, put it in park and immediately take out the key. It then chimes at me, at which point I check and see my headlights are off, doors are still closed, etc. I've just been ignoring it as it stops beeping in 5 min or so, and I just get out of the car
