Better way to secure carpet?

When we picked up El Diablo I found a small round plastic tab in the cupholder. I finally figured out it is a securing tab for the passenger area carpet. There is one missing at the front under the instrument panel and when I lifted the carpet there appears to be another threaded stud at the right front of the passenger seat.

Having worked at it a while I finally gave up trying to reinstall the front tab. There is just not enough stud length coming up through the carpet to grab onto the plastic tab.

Has anyone come up with other solutions? I plan on mentioning it to the dealer when I schedule some other stuff. Not a big deal but experience has shown me that the carpet will eventually pull down and wrinkle if not secured, so some solution will be needed.

There's a plastic screw that goes through that "stud" to attach the carpet to the floor underneath. Sounds like you're missing that screw.

Let me clarify. I have one black plastic compression clip, round disk with a center slot that will screw onto the threaded stub coming out of the floor.

However, the stub is so short this clip will not fit.

I was wondering if anyone has had a similar problem and come up with any other solutions to secure the carpet.

Sorry I misunderstood. Mine is an '08 and there's plenty of length to the black plastic "clip" to screw it on easily.

No worries, I will let the dealer ponder the issue at $75/hour...

You should have two clips for securing the carpet. One is round and flat. The other should have a round tab that presses down onto the stud. Sounds like you might be shorted a hold down clip. Or given the wrong one.
