I'm using the M1-108 based on the testing. Yes, it's "just a mitsu", but heck, your sweetheart is "just a girl" but you probably want the best for her! Just because a filter has the right physical dimensions, and the manufacturer says it will work, and it is cheap, does not mean it is the best for your car. A filter is far more than a can with paper in it as Old Smart points out.
Do the math, if a better filter costs twice as much, ($3 more), and you change your oil every 10K, at 100,000 miles you'd have paid $30 more. Ouch? I've heard people on this site that have paid more than twice that ($74) just to have an oil changed. I expect to drive my car 10 - 15K per year, my budget will permit $3 to $4 per year for a filter that is tested to exceed OEM spec.
