Brake disc replacement

Hi peeps, I've heard that the front brake discs and pads are difficult to change on the Smart for two from a DIY perspective. Can anyone advice on if its a DIY task and if there are any bits i need to watch out for?

Thanks

Mark

451s are a little different than the 450 shown (caliper bracket held by 18mm standard bolt head rather than E18) but not enough to worry about.
The job is as easy as any - not like an old Renault where you had to press the hub off the spindle to get the disk off.

The following You Tube video is for a Roadster but other than the location of the Master Cylinder Reservoir it should be the same.

Whoever told you that was mistaken. I had not changed brakes in over 20 years, and was able to the pads and rotors in under 25 minutes. Not even a little challenge. I put on ebc red pads and ebc slotted rotors and this has reduced the dust on the wheels by an amazing amount. Let the fun continue

I've swapped out both sides before in a parking lot of a store in minutes. VERY easy if you are slightly mechanically inclined. If you are not, they are still bearable if you can follow directions.

Truly one of the easiest cars I've ever done and I have done a lot.

I thought it was very easy. I don't have much to compare it to, though.

WOW!! a few time warps there, your smart has gone 20 years on one set of brakes??? (Just kidding with ya) I have changed a lot of brakes out over the years, and there were no surprises with my smart. Pretty straightforward.
