Brake Dust

Is everyone getting a lot of front wheel brake dust? My wheels are constantly dirty with brake dust. Anything we can use to prevent it?

Ceramic brake pads would prevent most dust. Not sure if they're available for the smart. I would buy a set.

I waxed my wheels and now it wipes right off without water.

In addition to an application of wax, get a microfiber rag and give the wheels a quick wipe down once a day to prevent the dust from building up; if you do it daily they'll wipe clean in 5 seconds....or less.

More annoying than the day-to-day brake dust, is the 'brake muck' that comes out after a wash when the wheels are still wet.

I have a manual car wash a few blocks away. I save just enough time at the end of the wash to zip up and down the street, then jump back into the wash bay to hose the wheels off one more time. This gets rid of some of the muck that's thrown out. They still need a touch-up after, but it's a lot less to clean off.

You can see the MB heritage in the smart's brakes.

The smart (or an MB) is nothing compared to a BMW. Just come by for a look an my Mini.

I've used Rejex for a long time. It was originally designed to protect helicopters from exhaust stains. It holds up better than ordinary wax and is available in autoparts stores now.

its just the normal compound the standard pads use , they use the same pads and discs(rotors) as the 450 model on the new 451 so there are plenty of aftermarket pads from the uk sellers and if you really want to splash out your bucks then you can get rotors as well!
ebc pads and rotors(discs) are a good set to get you going
