Brakes are sqweaking???

I was wonder on average how long are front brakes supposed to last on average. I have 13,500 miles on my Smart and when braking at slow speeds I can hear them sqweak and make small noises.
I do brake hard or frequent from stop and go traffic in the city of ATLANTA,Ga but is this normal.
I had a 08 Scion tC and at 20,000 miles of hard braking and riding and still the brakes had life and was not needed to change them yet?

Need to determine if it's the pads squeaking (not unusual with disc brakes) or if it's the brake wear indicators on the pads (more of a metallic scraping sound). Your smart center can check it out, as can any good independent shop.

Its sounds like the wear indicators.. But I wonder according to SMART how long should my brakes pad last. I wonder if im being toooo hard on the car. I was hopping they would last for atleast 20-25k before needing to change. On most other cars how long do brakes last.

Completely dependent on how you drive, and it sounds like you are hard on the brakes. BTW, coasting up to a stop returns better mpg. Saw your other post - brake pad wear is not normally covered under warranty. If a pad fails for some reason or is defective that should be covered.

Take a flashlight and look at the pad though the spokes in the front tire.

Mine are too, and I only have 6,300 miles

I don't think I drive that hard, and if anything I would think they'd last longer since the car doesn't weigh much. I wonder if it has anything to do with the creep...
