I have scheduled to go get my replacement sunshade installed on 11/28. When it get here, I will try to get part numbers and pictures. The pictures however I will have to email to some Bill Gates here as I have been unable to put them on this site.
The sunshade can be removed by removing 4 or 5 screws from each side, then you can take it inside and "repair" it while watching Survivor for example

i agree with "Big Panda" in that i thought that the problem with the sunshades were the brackets that the sunshade screwed into were someway glued to the glass and that they were coming off the glass, causing the sunshade to bind. at least thats what one of the owners told me a few weeks ago at SCI. they had to replace the glass as the brackets for the sunshade were made onto it. in his case, they apparently didn't do a very good job (not SCI, this was done before they received the car) and the glass became unattached.

if this is true, then can i watch something else, or is "Survivor" the only program that you can pay absolutely no attention to and still know what's going on at the end of the hour?

Different topic altogether. A few cars were called in for warranty repairs for an issue with their panorama roofs coming unglued. Had nothing to do with the sunshade, which, as many have already pointed out, is not attached to the polycarbonate (not glass) panorama roof panel.
Cheers,
Arch

It does look a little less transparent to me! I had mine replaced when they did my 10,000. I wasn't having any problems with the old one, but this one does slide smoother and has a different grip and looks darker.
Pics you say? Ah, well maybe tomorrow.

not really. the owner of the smart i spoke with said that his panorama roof was replaced (apparently at port or by the factory but in any event before it got to the dealer) and they failed to glue the roof into place properly. he then had what had happened to others in that the roof came off, but it didn't have anything to do with defective paint or the painting/powdercoating process. they simply didn't have enough adhesive on it and/or in the proper places.
FYI, he mentioned that he found out there is no way to put the roof panel INSIDE a smart car. the dimensions are just too big, no matter where or what angle you try. this was discovered when his smart was flat-bedded back to smart center of indianapolis after the roof chose to separate itself from the car.
kind of ruined his vacation he had just started.
