Wife and I were traveling on I-75 south, for I wanted to show her how well the car was handling. I just had the bright idea to finally check the tires since I received the car from the dealer weeks ago. The fronts were at 31 psi and the rears at 34. So I adjusted the fronts to 27 and brought the rears up 37 psi. Needless to say the car changed its wind sensitivity and had now settled down and it actually felt good at about 85 mph.
This was with the windows open. So we tried to duplicate this with closed windows and A/C on. That was not to be, for the cooling never happened.
We were just coincidentally within a 1/2 mile from our dealer and I tried the A/C again. It worked this time. So we didn't bother going there. Has any one else have any such issues?
I'm not exactly sure of the specs on the smart, but most cars shut the A/C compressor down at full throttle to provide maximum power for acceleration. Did you have it floored?

Sorry to hijack the thread, but I experienced the exact same thing on my car that I picked up last Saturday and was pleasantly surprised to find out that the tire pressure makes such a difference. I guess it stands to reason with such a light car.
Word to the wise- maintain your tire pressure to the factory specs.
I find this answer to be "snippy" and most unfriendly.
I don't really care that what you thought, I hope the person who wanted answers was happy to have the owner's manual. I KNOW I was. Now THAT was snippy. (see the difference)
