Instructions say: Change every 15K or by manufacturers recommendation. So it should filter just fine time wise.
The filter length and width are exactly on. 8 3/8" by 8 3/8". It even has a bit of foam to seal up the top and bottom edges. The filter is just a bit thinner (front to back). I'll go take exact measurements on the thickness, if you'd like.
I myself haven't the need to change the filter just yet, but I compared airflow (at least by feel, I don't have fancy measuring devices!) and it was no different, which is the important thing because there is no difference in stress to the fan motor compared to stock. It would take a long time with a dirty filter before the motor gave out. I don't see a problem with it if you keep it changed out like it should be. That shouldn't be a problem, this is one of the easiest cabin filter changes I've ever seen on a car..
Plus, you could always keep the stock filter on hand if something goes wonky under warranty.

I'll let you know if my fan motor goes out...
It took nearly a year for them to put out approved stuff around an oil change. (Be it, yes.. not many
had to have an oil change in that time..) Like with the oil filters, some members on here went on ahead and put them on the car before well before they were approved. It'll be a bit more time, I bet, before they put out more approved things for the DIYer that can't get to the dealer straight away.
We'll never get anywhere if we don't get a little rebellious!
