Cabrio Owners... (re: top issues)

Anyone experiencing problems with leaks or wind noise with their cabrio? Any other problems? 2 more days left to configure and I am going back and forth between cabrio and coupe! HELP!

Get the Cabrio model

I have had my 451 for eight weeks. Cab is great - minor wind noise at 120 km and no leaks. Had the 2005 cabrio smart for three years held up well ... you wont be disappointed.

Thanks! I wanted the cabrio from day 1, went to the dealer yesterday and was surprised that I could pass my finger under the top and into the cabin...

Isn't some wind part of what a cabrio is all about?

The smart uses a very unusual method of sealing out water & wind from the sides of the top. Rather than attach the top to the side bars and fold the entire thing they tension the top from the front and rear like a giant sunroof. This means that the sides are held tight against the soft seals by the tightness of the top. Yes, you can get your finger in there if you try, but unless you (or your car wash) spray directly against the side there is little likelihood of water entry. Now what will happen in 10 years when the sun and ozone have weakened the seals is another matter, time will tell. I bought two cabrios, knowing all this so you can see I am not too concerned.

I configured a coupe but was offered a cabrio orphan. Wow, I'm so glad that I now have it. The concerns I had quickly faded. The quality is great. If you don't mind the extra cost, you shouldn't be disappointed.

I've wash mine a half dozen times so far and have never had any water get inside the car. Some wind noise at 60 mph, not bad.
