Ahhhh, the sun, we had that once here too, back in the heatwave of 1984, it was visible behind a layer of light cloud for 15 minutes, pheeeewww what a scorcher that was
LOL,
when I was there in July / Aug of 2007, the only time I seen sun was the two weeks my wife was there and you all hit over 100 one day. LOL.
All Ball's top beads water, but I use an ordinary vinyl & rubber UV protectant such as Armor-All. It's inexpensive, and keeps the top clean, bright and looking like new. I actually soak my top with a heavy coating of the product periodically so that it can seep through the fabric and protect the inner layer of rubber, too.
Hmmm The folks who have responded to the question all indicate their roof beads water. Mine never has, from day one. And, still doesn't after treating with RaggTopp. Now I'm more concerned and confused. Maybe I should try another product for waterproofing canvas.

I can't recall whether mine beaded when I took delivery, but I personally wouldn't be concerned if I were you. Also keep in mind that the outer layer of the top is not canvas but a synthetic "polycyclic fabric".
Also I don't know how well it works but Smart does put out a kit for the soft top that includes a cleaner and a proctectant (how ever you spell it), as well as a cleaning brush and cloth.
But if it is not leaking I wouldn't worry too much about it.
An excellent question to start this thread. As there have been several who have posted as to the raggtopp protectant spray,I have a further question.I have just recently done the initial spray treatment(twice as recommended). There was a post to the effect that one one of us was expecting to spray treat the top two times a year.I am writing to inquire if re-spraying twice a year is thought to be optimal? If not, then could someone make a rational case for something other than twice a year treating the cabrio top.I really have no idea what would be best.Any help is greatly appreciated.
I had planned to treat mine Spring and Fall. Now, I'm baffled as to why my roof is different from almost everyone else's, and am not sure what I should do. Several of y'all have said it's nothing to worry about if it isn't leaking. But, I don't like that it doesn't bead anway. Just doesn't seem healthy.
