I have been thinking about the OP's post.

smart goes off when I use the FOB for my parking garage

I am interpreting this differently than the rest of you. I read this as the car turns off when he uses a garage door remote.
After reading this thread
http://www.smartcarofamerica.com/for...es-part-26878/ I'm wondering if the garage door remote radio Signal is interfering with the cars Immobilizer, thus turning the car off.
Thats my take on it. If the "FOB" for the garage is attached to the Key ring it may be causing interference.
The Simple thing to try would be to put the Garage FOB as far away from the Key FOB as possible.
Of course we won't know until the OP decides to return and clarify the situation.
