There is a post somewhere of someone installing it. The small net goes AROUND the plastic plate on the port side of the luggage space. I remember reading that the plastic cover comes off, and the net wraps around. That's all I can remember, since I've decided since to forego that option. But if you look around, you may find that post, it came with a picture (unless it vanished in the week long black hole...)

its a crappy in stall. the floor net you have to make holes in the carpet. i used a small drill bit to make clean holes.
the side net is cool though. it just wraps around the plastic pocket so the net is in front and the wire is behind the door. the net does fit through the gap in the plastic.

Just bought the cargo net kit from Smart Center Germantown ($49!) and while the side pocket net was easy to install (after reading the above) I'm not real clear on where to drill the holes for the boot net. Also, the screws seem rather long, won't they rub against the engine compartment plate? Will screwing them into a foam carpet provide enough strength to hold the net down without it simply pulling the carpet up? Anyone have a template or measurements that I could use?

Thanks!

Attached are some pictures of mine... complete with dust on the lens (damnit...)

I decided not to stretch the net tightly across the trunk floor as in the pics on the catalog, as it makes it too tight. I also reinforced the back of it with some washers - about half dollar sized. I used an exacto knife to make pockets for them inside of the foam, and I put rubber caps on the ends of the bolts to not scratch the engine cover.

Mine was dealer-installed, with a relaxed footprint quite a bit smaller than mdfortwoguy's. It restrains quite tall items as-is (things need only be restrained, not completely netted). Having replaced the plastic plug behind the driver's seat with a second "D"-ring (corresponding to the child-seat "D"-ring behind the passenger's seat), I can spread the footprint and tension if needed.

Normal position

Stretched position

The two "D"-rings gives me two strong-points for lashing heavy, odd shaped things down.

I wanted mine to be square, and not bowing in on all 4 sides. It doesn't have as much tension as one fully stretched across the trunk floor - but like you said, it doesn't need it.

By only doing 2/3 of the floor - I can use both the net and have other things in the trunk (like 2 bags of groceries sitting on the floor, flat) and then have something in the net (like a watermelon). I wanted to have the option of not having things sit on top of the net.

I kind of liked that they didn't have set mount points for it... admittedly it was aggravating to install (and I found the included hardware not up to my standards - hence the extra reinforcing on the back and rubber caps for the bolt ends on the backside), but in the end it was nice to be able to put it how I wanted it.
