Change in Cabrio "hatch" function?

I could be doing something wrong here, but it appears there has been a design change in the way the softtop lifts when fully open. I know in either the testers and/or the very early models delivered, that when the softtop was fully retracted, you could drop the tailgate and push the softtop release levers and the softtop would slide upwards, exposing more of the hatch area. I tried this with mine, and it didn't budge - but now instead, the retracted softtop swings outward. While the two methods basically accomplishes the same thing, the old way was much cooler and would stay up be itself.

So how does your softtop "hatch" work? Am I doing something wrong?

OK, so I'm thinking I probably just remembered this wrong from earlier demos. Looking at the softtop mechanism, I can't really see the top sliding up the way I thought I remember it. So nevermind...you can continue to ignore this post! ;)

Me too; was hoping some of the Cabrio owners would chime in....

Speaking of which, do you know what that little device at the top of your windshield is for?

Yep. It's a wind deflector.

One of the (lesser-trained) brand specialists at a certain (unnamed) dealership I visited said that it was the antenna. As I was holding the antenna at the time, I believed that the specialist was ... incorrect.

It breaks up the airfow coming over the top so the soft top doesn't "flap". Wind tunnel tests?

It also seems to help with minimising back airflow when the top is lowered.

Somewhat related topic - I put deer warning whistles on the TOP front of my "Jaunty" cabrio - they are of the two-note variety - whenever I have the top retracted the left one is very noisy so I just reach up and slide it off! They are black and look very cool on the black frame!
