Looked like this, right?

I remember a fellow who I helped on weekends of racing using something that looked very much like that in his quick change rear end gear lube. I seem to remember the name of it being "CLM" and I believe it stood for it's essential ingredients which were Copper, Lead and Magnesium. The purported benefit of this stuff was to reduce friction and noise by "softening" the interface of the gear teeth to each other, making them more slippery and having less friction....basically an anti-friction additive.
Maybe something like this is used as a break-in additive for the Getrag transmission.
