Clutch replaced for free out of warranty

Smart replaced my clutch to correct the problem of engaging gears/stuck in N
I had over 28,000 miles and was out of warranty.

I took it to the dealer to explain the problem, dropped it off, gave me a convertible as a loaner, called 1800smartusa, dealer called back in 26 hours with the clutch already replaced. Not bad! Dealer was Smart Center, Laguna Niguel, California where it was purchased. Apparently they knew of the problem as they've replace several already and had the parts in stock. Bullet dodged, yikes.

Good to know they are taking care of the problem beyond warranty.

That's as it should be. They know it's a problem, they changed the clutch plate design as well as the grease on the 09's, so it shouldn't be a crap shoot weather it happens before or after 24K.
