Clutch Software Update (Not 2.0 update)

For those of you who have had this software update, I'm wondering if you are experiencing the same as me.

I've noticed that the car stays in gear longer (both by engine sound and by the up arrow on my speedo) before wanting to upshift, which for me is a good thing

Also, the shifts are a little smoother.

Anyone else experience this?

Just got back from KC with it! Picked "Babe" up this a.m., so I only have the hour-long drive home to go by, but yes, so far its shifts seem to make more sense and I haven't had the which-gear-should-I-be-in down-shift/up-shift confusion. So far, so good! :-)

For those of us who just paddle along, shift duration is not noticed.

That said, the #2 upgrade was a real sea change in smoothness and ease of clutch action.

Reverse/drive engagement and start off the line were much improved.

Being able to change from paddle to auto mode at a flick of the finger is great.

But, I now reread your post and see I missed the point here... SORRY!

Please tell us more about the clutch upgrade software. Is this Retro, or only comes with a new upgrade clutch ? A2Jack

Sounds like a great way to convince folks to come in fore some service.

That reminds me, I need to call and schedule service now

Those words reflect how I feel. Prior to the update, I felt that the car wanted to upshift too early. BTW, I drive in manual mode.

No worries. The software update is independent of a new clutch. The software update was released by smart to "prevent future damage to the clutch" by preventing slipping issues. So this update should be down regardless.

The fact that the update also keeps the car in gear longer was a pleasant surprise for me!

So r u guyz sain the software update returns the feeling of firm upshifts like prior to 2.0? or izit just higher shift points? And 2nd question is: can you still shift into 5th by 25MPH and lug the engine?

I can't speak for others, but the point I was trying to make with this thread is that the point of the update (per smart) is to stop further damage to the clutch. However, as a pleasant, unexpected side-effect, I also get later upshifts.

I made a appointment for Wednesday mourning to get my upgrade.

... will they void my warranty for after market rims, tires, air filter, intake tube, and Iridium spark plugs is only thing I'm worried about.
