Contact bridge...what does this mean?

Two questions please...on the .02 service upgrade, what is the "contact bridge" service? And how does one know if their car has "heated mirriors" and if you do, how are they controlled? Thanks!

Not sure about the contact bridge, but if you have an '08 and have power mirrors(which means every passion), they are heated. As far as control, if the ignition is on, so are the heated mirrors. The '09's changed that so the heat is only on if the rear defrost is on.

The bridge on the 09 changed the mirrors back to the 08 on all the time with key.

Thanks for the information everyone! So if I understand the "contact bridge" issue, it is a problem on the 2009 models?

Nick - you stick your tongue on the mirror while you have ran the car for about 10 minutes to see if it is heated. As far as "Contact Bridge" - only a Trekkie would under stand that.

When are you going to do the upgrade?

so wait a minute..... we ('09's) are now back to heated mirrors ALL the time?? WTF? sounds like a big drain of juice, and added drag on my already small alternator! Is this a ploy from MB to sell new heated mirror elements in a few years? is that why the bigger battery went into my 09 as well?

BTW...since this "recall"... i have a terrible SQUEAK in/around the passenger floor. The service department attempted to "fix" the noise with "felt pads". That worked for a while... and now the squeaks are back.
