I ended up in court over the motor in my old GMC Safari van, the dealer replaced the fuel injection that was leaking . I picked it up, got 3 blocks away and the motor locked up. 2 cylinders were full of gasoline and the bottom of the crankcase had 3 gallons of oil and gas in it. I had the motor rebuilt by a different mechanic and took them to court. I had the parts and a detailed signed, NOTORIZED statement from the mechanic/ shop owner. The judge threw out the parts and the statement because the mechanic that did the work was not present.
It only cost me $4,000 for the motor rebuild, the dealer wanted to give me a used motor from a junk yard with unknown miles and unknown condition, no warranty... I chose to have mine rebuilt as it was spotless inside with very little wear,(mobil 1 it's whole life) Except for the pistons stuck in the cylinders, everyting looked like new.
