Cooler weather and MPG

Has anyone else noticed that with the colder weather that your gas mileage is going down? Mine has gone from 45 average to 41 average.

Are you running the defroster? That will engage the air conditioning compressor and give no lighted indication. With the colder weather I expect my mileage to go up!!

Even with the defroster engaged, your mileage should still go up since it will not be engaged as much as using AC

I am seeing the reverse; my mileage is going up. Warmer or Hot weather drives the mileage down.

You can see the trend from my mileage record here:

I'm lucky the little dog gets 33mpg at best. That's highway too, everyday. I've got 3500 miles on mine too!!!! In cooler fall weather it should go up. Engines like cooler air. Your not using the AC, like in summer. Windows up too. Really cold weather, it will use more gas. If your getting 41 mpg, I wouldn't complain. I'll trade cars with you!!!!!

And encouraging for me as colder weather is coming for us here in Upstate NY. I'll look forward to even better mileage then as we have more cooler weather here than hotter, obviously.
