Copper crush washer

Re-used the washer on the recent oil change, but will replace it the next time. Think I saw a post about them being 7 bucks from the dealer - booooooguuuuuus as the car guys would say. Anyone have a source or know the size so we can get these at a realistic price? Thanks!

Thanks for the quick reply; now the crucial question - thickness?

Also found this on a site about brake system for British cars:

A neat trick I learned a while back is that copper crush washers can be reused - IF you anneal them. Place the washer in question on a brick and play your propane torch across it until it glows orange. Let it cool. It's now as soft as it was originally and will re-crush and seal perfectly.
Anybody familiar with that technique?

it makes the metal dead soft and will work fine once, after that the material gets too thin to be of any use...

Thanks, Karl - it sounded a little too good to be true. Once we get the thickness of these washers I'm hoping they'll be easy to find and cheap.

I plan to measure the $7.00 plus tax one when I finally get it.
dont want to get cavaler about what thickness will work there should be a bit of takeup in the system that a "normal" washer should work

They seem worth about 21 cents to me let me know when you find them for less than a buck for a six pack. I promise not to get insulted for not getting charged way too much for nothing.

Did the same thing today! Changed at 471 miles and the washer did show signs of torque deformation. Will replace next change as well, if my dealer ever gets enough stock. I think the service dept. has claim on all they got in initial issue.
