crack in windshield

I've had the car since March 31st, and I've had no problems until today. A crack has formed from the bottom the the windshield going up about 12 inches up. It wasn't there when I went to lunch, but appeared about 4 hours later. I don't see where it was hit by anything. Anyone else having windshield problems?

The good news is that after breaking in the car, I'm now getting about 42 MPG.

I was afraid I was going to get mine cracked when I was behind a dump truck full of loose dirt and gravel that was flying out of the bed, I put my Smartie into 5th and flew past him.

mkoryd - What was the temperature? Did you notice any fingerprints on the roof line like someone had tried to tip the car? Aynthing unusual? Well, now that that is over is could be as simple as a glass flaw. It is not very common but does happen. Take it to your Dealer, they will have to replace the glass anyway. I would plead the flaw case until they either replace it or tell you to get shagged.

It's hot and humid here... low to mid 80s I didn't see any evidence of anyone trying to tip....
The crack starts at the bottom..., no evidence of anything hitting it. I'm thinking it's a flaw too

It doesn't appear heat could be an issue and without evidence of impact damage, that's out. I don't believe the tridion would allow the window to crack from flex, a 70 mph impact with a concrete barrier couldn't even do that (youtube vid). Flaw works. I'd go with it, quickly before it creeps!!!

If there is no rock damage it could be a stress crack that would be covered by warranty

Sorry to hear, at least you don't have an annoying scuff on your top polycarbonate roof that magically appeared.

I had a bird fly into the lower drvr side corner of my windshield today, while I was going 65mph on the freway, coming home from work today. It made a loud thunk, and slid off. First time I ever had that happen in 36 years of driving. I think having the windshield treated with Rain-X helped with the sliding part and may have helped prevent any glass damage. Unfortunately the bird died on impact and was run over by the car in the lane next to me.

windshield.

Kwagar. did a post on this a short while ago. It looks like a windshield can run up to a K-buck, and this does not include the rain sensor.

The jury is out on whether the sensor can be transfered to the new WS, or must be replaced too. Also we do not know if just eliminating the sensor will cause flashing lights and other fun things. A2Jack
