When I lived in Maine, I swore by the orange Rain-x fluid. No that I live in the south, I still use it out of habit.

25-30F Heck, that no coat weather up here in the winter. those are the days we really need washer fluid because the salt works, and the car washes are busy

"Normal" low temperatures will not help you. You need to look at the record lows and adjust your thought accordingly. Normal lows can be easily broken. Record lows are another possibility, but less likely.

That sounds a lot like the reason many people cite for not buying a smart: "What if I need to drive 4 people around?" or "What if I need to lug 20 sheets of 4x8's from Home Depot?" Record lows are by definition rare events, just like driving 4 people around is a rare event for many drivers. But if buying excess methanol for a once-in-a-century -20F event makes folks feel more secure, more power to them.

I just wanted better juice the water with soap and blue dye that wouldn't freeze. I'm not at all delicatessen and thinking it's going to get below zero. I just wanted the stuff in my lines for when winter comes and it gets below freezing.
