DashDAQ question

I would like to know how practical it is to use a DashDAQ on more than one vehicle. It would help me to justify the cost if I knew I could use it on a couple other vehicles. Can you save a configuration file in a computer and quickly reconfigure it for a different vehicle?

It doesn't look like it would work well with multiple cars. From what I can tell it only stores statistical information in a single setup. If you move it to another car all of your stats will be goofed up from the different readouts you would get.

Why not save yourself a few hundred bucks and go with two Scangauge II's? You could get three of them for the price of the Dashdaq. If you're really into paying for that nice display and customization then nobody can stop you from getting it. When it comes down to value though if you're just wanting to view the data the scangauage offers far more.

Yellow Bird, I looked at these a while back, and I really liked a ton of the features, but I agree that it doesn't look easy to move between cars. That's one of the reasons I've scratched it off my list. I'd love to have an all in one large volume MP3 player with GPS and that other functionality would be nice as well, but I don't think it's this unit due to me owning more than one car that I drive regularly.

I thought the DashDAQ was a Linux based system where the user could have ultimate control over the environment. If there's a DashDAQ forum, I'd imagine the issue of swapping between cars would already be taken up.

There's probably a unique identifier in the OBDII data that can be used to differentiate the two cars and use a specific directory for the files based on that - but this is pure conjecture.

It is Linux based and I remember seeing their code as a download from their website, but I don't have that level of expertise. Thanks for the replies will search more and call them directly.

Got my own question answered by calling DashDaq/Drew Technology. Very impressed with their support. Piece of cake. Suspect I will have a separate memory card for each vehicle.
