Dead battery

I took my car in to Easton to get the weather strip fixed. It was torn when I picked it up. They did a flash to fix the gas gage thing.

two days later It was DOA in the garage. I did leave the lights in Auto mode ( always did for last 5 months ) and the wipers were in auto mode. ( can't say how many times I leave them on. Not many times though) Easton said it could not be the flash. I would say the wiper being in auto mode did it. Easton wants me to call in the am if it is dead again. They said the battery might have gone bad. Pure coincidence if it did. If it is the battery they have one waiting for me Easton people are great

Make sure they have performed the bulletin where they install a bridge. It resolved an issue on early 09s with Auto wipers and headlamps. The problem was battery could go dead when left in auto mode.

Just a thought!!

Knock on wood!

Since day one (July 08) with my 08 Passion I've always left the Auto lights and wipers on and have never had a battery issue. My car has also been idle for several days at a time. In fact, it was parked for 5 days just last week.
Had the 2.0 upgrade done, including the new battery in August.

Exactly what I was going to say!

Auto lights and wipes left to "on". Never dead, never...

The smaller 42Ah battery isn't good enough; if your high beams flicker or cut out, or if your starter seems to take an extra second compared to when it was new, your battery may be going bad. Check voltage in the morning with lights off. If you see anything under 11.5 volts, your battery's not holding on well enough. Below 11 volts and pretty soon your starter will just click and take a nap.

I left both wipers and lights in auto the other night. All was fine in the am. I wonder if they put a new battery in.( I was a bit late for my apt. at Easton due to dead battery and told them so. their response was. I'll have them check the battery. Love Eastons service)

I also never had issue with battery for first six months. Do you know if the battery in the smart is Maintenance free. Or, do we need to add water?

The OEM Banner battery is not maintenance-free. In fact, you should inspect the electrolyte level because a number of these were never checked at PDI and may well be critically low!

I am leaving the auto wipers and lights on tonight to see if the battery drains. If it stays up I will then know Easton fixed the battery ( replace or add fluid) .
