I'm not posting this to complain, just to inform. My Check Engine Light came on Sunday. I checked the gas cap, and that was not the culprit, so at that point, my technical know how was exhausted. Took the car to Euromotorcars Devon (PA) and crossed my fingers. I did not have an appointment, and I dropped it off around 10:00 AM. They called me at 2:30 to tell me it needed a Purge Valve, they could have it tomorrow, and the total would be around $325.00.
True to their word, it was ready the next day. The price came in a little under ~ $287.79.
Now I don't like replacing parts, or paying for it, but what are you gonna do? And I realize I'm paying for it, but I like being greeted at the door, getting help before you have to ask for it, and actually being called back when promised. So I'm crossing my fingers that this will be it for a while. The car has 37k on it.

The purge valve can actually be purchased for about $35
Got that right!! I have a spare on the shelf. Thought I had my second one going out almost a year ago(first one replaced under warranty). Popped a CEL , and I read it using my handy scanner. Code P0410, cleared it, and it hasn't come back. $35 part & 1/2 hour labor to R&R. OP was taken to the cleaners...
I've got quite a few switchover valves for $35 from the dealer to fix a P0410. Just making sure no one is mixing up a switchover for purge valve. I have yet to get a chance to replace a purge valve so I'm in the dark about price.

Ah, you may be right. I assumed he had a P0410 code, but we need clarification on that. He may have had a different issue.

I am failing to understand why people think he was taken to the cleaners? $99 is a pretty standard diagnosis. $67 for a $37 eBay valve is not a rediculous mark-up. And $105 for 1 hr. Labor is pretty standard.
Sure if you ARE a mechanic, you have the tools, you don't break anything and you are 100% on the fix, then you could save money. Otherwise, I would call this a fair repair.
