I have found that sometimes the seatbelt won't retract all the way and ends up laying in the door jamb keeping it from closing. I try to remember to flip the seat belt onto the seat before I close the door.

I usually crack the window before a passenger enters so they don't have to slam the door. Leaving the window open a crack does help in the summer, and keeps it cooler in the hot sun.

I have that problem too. It's not right and I would've taken it by the dealer already, if they weren't so distant from me.

The Car is realy tight

I watched my wife close the door today and the rear glass moved out so much I thought it wasn't closed. I checked it and it was locked.

Light doors don't help the situation. THings will get better if you can crack the windows. We won't be doing that for about 5 more months.

Another factor may be the adjustment of your door strikers. Mine doors are actually on the "looser" end of the spectrum, and could probably use a bit of adjusting to tighten the latches. If you find it takes an excessive amount of effort to close yours, you may want to try adjusting the strikers.

I dont know about the Smart but a lot of cars are designed (ie Honda, Toyota) with kind of a air check valve. It is a vent with a rubber flap that lets the air pressure out but nothing in. Air only moves one way out such as shutting doors. Relieves the cabin pressure when shutting the doors.

I scolded my b/f 3 times for that when I first got my smart. He now remembers to check before he shuts the door. However, my seat belt has never done this to me. So my question would be, how far back is your seat? I'm a bit shorter and have my seat pulled up a bit. On the passenger side my b/f has the seat all the way back and the top of the belt is about even with the seat as where mine is behind my seat. I'm pretty positive this is why the belt have fallen in the doors way on him and not for me. Just a thought.

I just read what I typed above and it doesn't make much since, does it? But I swear that's the reason, at least in my car.
