Does the smart have a rev limiter ?

I was taking off from a green light the other day and and the rev display went PASSED 6rpms AND STAYED THERE! Isn't a rev limiter supposed to stop you from red lining? How far can I push her w/ out hurting her? 6rpms? I read a previous post in which it was stated that 6.5rpms is the real red line not 6...

I would hope accelerating hard

It does have a limiter - that being said, I have seen mine zing the engine a bit deeper into the red than I would like if I kick it down in manual mode.

I doubt that. My guess is those folks who are getting stellar MPGs rarely go over 3K.

My point, How you drive the car will affect fuel mileage. Some who complain that they get bad mileage may be affecting that themselves. Yes I have been guilty of reving it high to merge on the highway and the computer will shift up for you, now ask how I know.

If you don't have the tach pod how will you know if you are entering redline and also if you enter it and don't know it if you have no pod can you break the engine.

Okay, THANKS that video was awesome...but it still doesn't answer the question. The video says it will automatically shift down but does it automatically shift up as well? (or maybe I wasn't paying enough attention)
