I want all of you to know that my last post was edited quite considerably. I poked fun at the people that said some pretty strong things to me about how I should just pay and get on with my life.
I think moderators are overstepping their bounds when the begin to edit content that contained no curse words and no defamatory content. It's too bad, because this is a fun forum, but for someone to edit my post that severely and take out the true vapor of the point I was trying to get across is just plain wrong.
The moderator in question was also one of the people who was against my stance on this subject and who fun was being poked at. Certainly, if you're going to have people moderating, no, EDITING posts, they should be people who have no investment with the thread.
What do you people think?
I agree. I made a non-religious or political comment about Al Gore who is not a minister or politician and it got deleted. You hear what "they" want you too on this site. Very sad.

If it wasn't for the moderators this website would be one be Chinese Viagra spam filled forum with infighting (not related to spam). This forum is moderated for a reason to keep it alive if they ignored it the infighting that can occur would kill it and probably just be spamville.

I consider the moderators' moderation in this case appropriate. Suggesting what you did for those who said you "should just pay and get on with [your] life" was over the line. Would that line get on national TV? Even after 10 o'clock? Not that I've seen. HBO, sure, but your comment wasn't prime time.
To suggest your comment should under no means have been edited is to suggest that the television audience (which includes kids, adults, and those of weaker temperaments than you and I) should also be exposed to such vitriol. You may believe the network sensors should just go.... Well, I'd be repeating you and we know that's not appropriate.
Don't we?
What you did was not poking fun, it was direct insult to those who had a (strong) differing viewpoint from your own. I'm glad you got the work taken care of under warranty. I'm not happy that you're stirring the "censorship!!" pot again when you should know better.
I feel your pain. I had a Toyota in 1981 where the radio went out at 12,089, just 89 miles out of warranty. I talked the dealer who referred me to Toyota who finally said, sorry, you're right radios have nothing to do with mileage, but everything is subject to the terms of the warranty. By the way, the dealer could replace it as a "courtesy" to you as a "valued customer" - Toyota's words. Clearly, I was not valued by that dealer, and I have never been back. In those 28 years, I've owned six cars - none from that dealer. But I did go back to Toyota. And that one experience with the radio was entirely random - I never had any premature failures in Toyota's after that.
If there had been a rash of fuel pump failures, the dealer would likely have been aware of it and there might have been a quiet solution to keep the Internet from being all abuzz about quality issues. But it appears that's not the case. (Read back on some of the battery issues discussed on earlier forums, for instance.)

Bottom line: IT'S THEIR SITE. Not yours, mine or even 'jetfuels' . We all make comments that either can, may be or should be deleted or censored.
It's not a big deal. If I decide some day that I don't like it, I'll just take my toys and go play somewhere else.

First I want to thank (one more time) Dunerunner and I'll tell you why in a minute.

On Monday morning, the head of smart service contacted me and informed me that the fuel pump is actually listed as part of the emission's system. In the state where the car lives, California, the emission system is guaranteed for 7 years or 70,000 miles. He couldn't make any promises at that point, but armed with this new information, I was hopeful. He also apologized for their customer service's lack of timely follow-through.

Thanks again for the feedback--this was a great thread!
Bottom line folks, He found a loophole none us us smart A$$s on here found. smart CS gave him the run around while he was paying for a rental. It want until someone here gave him useful contact info that he was able to get the ball rolling. He payed a bunch out of pocket and in the end a large swath of the smart ownership in this country just found a way to get their fuel pump replaced under warranty.
The next $600 saved could be yours.
Are we done here?
