Hmm... I'll have to take another look when it's not snowing or 20 degrees outside.

Is the plastic pin beneath the metal striker? The only thing visible to me were the two large metal screws.

For what, the door seals?

Once upon a time, about a skillion years ago, when I worked in the auto-aftermarket goodies installation business (stereos, sunroofs, &c.) we had a "grease stick" we'd use on leaking sunroof and door glass seals; sort of an overgrown Chapstick lookin' thingummy made of silicone grease, that we'd apply to the seals to rejuvinate them. Dunno what rubber you're looking to lube, and I suspect this wouldn't help with rattling doors - that sounds more like a striker adjustment needs to be made - but I'll throw the info out FWIW. Maybe a glass shop or sunroof installer near you still has something like this.

The dealer told me this was a common problem. The service manager took care of it and another problem in about 25 min. It appears that the latch part on the trident can be adjusted. And they simply loosened the bolts and moved it towards the interior of the car. They may have done something similar by the hinges too.

I took my car in for this issue, back in November. The service manager rub some kind of Mercedes-Benz white wax around the door seals, and tail gate seals. It worked fine till the first washing. There is door flex, because doors are made of plastic, and light a weight steel frame. The window rubs against the door seals, making the door rattle. It really bad in cold weather. When it warms up, it goes away. If your not near a dealer, rub some silicone lubricant, around the door seals. The seals get hard in the cold. He looked at my latches, and there was nothing wrong with them. Common issues.

...don't wait until the stuff fails...it's called preventive maintenance...
...this worked for me for many years....I wish you could see my 16 year old seals of my car....it does the trick...you may have a different product you like, but whatever it is, use it...

jetfuel - Amsoil!!! !!!

I'm a huge fan of Amsoil!!

Mine did the same thing they are doing now back in August and September. In Florida that means ***hot***. I hope you have better luck with those rattles once the weather gets warm smark.

In my particular cars; I do drive them down some bumpy dirt roads which amplifies pretty much any rattle that may be about to start.

The smart is still a great car - no complaints here! Rattles or not.
