Drivers Door Problems

Hello All.
I have a Smart For Four. When the car is unlocked with the key fob all the doors can be opened from the outside except for the drivers door, this can only be opened from the inside of the car. I have found that the cable from the door handle on the outside of the car to the door handle on the inside of the car has broken. I have purchased a new cable but can`t seem to see how to remove the inner door skin to enable me to attach the ends of the cable to the handles. Any Ideas Please?
Mant Thanks,
Ken.

Take off the outer door skin, not the inner one. You'll find information on doing that in the Audio & Video section because it's how one installs new door speakers (which you might want to install while you're in there).

Is your car over 24K miles? If not, why aren't you having the dealer do this as a warranty repair?

Is yours an 07 Gen2? There was a spate of door problems noted at smartManiacs when the Gen2 first came to the UK in SEP 07. We don't seem to have had those problems here in the U.S. since we began to get ours in JAN 08. Maybe M-B quietly fixed something.

Ah, I see you have a 454; no info on that in the U.S.
