. . . OK, I'm new here so please don't yell me. My only question might be: WHY would you want DRL? Any time you use more lights, or anything else electrical, the engine has to work harder and use more gas. I can turn my parking lights on any time I want to be seen, and during the daytime I'm pretty hard to miss. How preoccupied are we getting that we can't turn our lights on? How much of a bump do you get for DRL and wouldn't it be better for the environment not to burn as much gas?
Soap box broke - end of rant.
..DRL are proven to be a nice safety feature ...you could be seen better with them on than without them...and for fuel economy...what are we talking about here..1/10 of a mile per gallon?...how much of a drain does the use of head lights puts on the alternator?..not much IMHO...
jetfuel...better to be seen than hit.....................just me
For $20 I will be glad to share the secret to activating your DRL. Oh, what the heack, I'll tell you for free and it is guaranteed to work every time. You use your left hand to turn on the light switch. Now there, was't that simple. Other than for insurance purposes, why would anyone pay t have their lights turned on when the driver can do it? I work hard for my money and don't understand paying for such a thing. Maybe it is just me, go figure. What a waste of money!
Is the DRL feature/activation the same on the 2010 Passions? If there is a software only issue, I can get them for free. Is there any additional parts needed to make them work on the 2010?

All software but activation isn't (as it should be IMHO) free.
I'm asking if it was software only, because part of the deal I made when she bought her car was if no additional parts were needed, they would activate the DRL for free. She bought a white Passion coupe with beige interior, heated seats, gauges, power steering, and fog lights.

Software only and hope you got that in writing. There's no cost for parts but to get the code from Daimler the dealer has to pay a fee on each car.
I'm new in this forum!
I read the whole topic! There is an other solution for your ''daylight'' problem.
You can also put on your Smart car LED technolgy. What's about that?
My Smart came with an $50 option on the invoice for Daytime Running LIghts and then we had to follow the instructions in the 2010 owners manual on how to activate them. BTW the do run all the lights even tail lights. I think it is worth it. Anything that helps get your micro car noticed on the road is a plus in my book, well worth the cost of a couple of bulbs. In addition you do get a deduction on your insurance.
