EBC brake pads

OK, I've done a couple of searches and not come up with anything, so I'm posting a new thread. Has anyone here installed the EBC black front brake pads? I did yesterday, and by the time I had 100 miles on them (mostly highway) they were squealling like a stuck pig. It's really embarrassing to pull up anywhere and have your brakes wailing like an old beater. I removed them tonight, and re-installed the OE pads, I have a 300 mile trip this weekend and wasn't going to listen to that the whole time.
I did notice when I removed them, that there was still some of the "break-in coating" left on them. Maybe I just need to use them some more? I have been really gentle on them, no sudden stops. I did notice though, that the harder I apply brakes, the less they squeal. If I make a nice gentle stop, they really make a lot of noise.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Don't know about the black, but I have had the EBC green pads installed since leaving the dealer 10,500 miles ago-- no complaints.

The EBC greens have been fine for me from day one though I married them to some EBC rotors at the same time.

I'll be installing EBC Reds on my MINI on Tuesday.....I've read that EBCs may squeal a bit for the first 500 miles or so, but then quiet down. Its even acknowledged on the box that the noise problem shouldn't be considered a warranty issue in the early going (at least thats what it says for the reds) Give it a little more time (I've also seen it said to avoid stomping on them the initial 500 miles or so as well)

Why change pads so soon? Do they stop better than the OEM pads?

I don't know why others have changed pads, but I'm likely to change pads to a variety that doesn't generate as much dust soon.

That's why I changed mine, I got so tired of cleaning all the black soot off my front rims. The EBC's aren't supposed to dust like the OE's. I just didn't expect the squealling. Thanks to those who have responded, I will probably putthem back on after my trip and see if they get better over the next week.

It's been months since I searched the internet but I got my green pads when I got the car from my local Smart source:

Brake Up Grades - Default Store View

Feel free to search for better prices (I'm not sure if he's rock-bottom or a couple dollars more) but I know I can get what I need here.

Look at Tire rack. I found them to be good on prices for Hawk pads. I've never used EBC.
