Based on the relatively low cost of the car I asked my Parts guy Paul at smart center round rock to see if he could get a replacement motor for me
My desire was to have the spare to tinker with (I am a racing motor builder as a cash producing hobby)
Paul mailed me that I may want to wait a few years (he knew why I wanted it)
That was March 08 and at that time there were no 451 factory rebuilds in the pipe line just Brand new factory crate motors
$8300 was what MB wanted and Paul could not tell if that was the entire power package (with trans) or just the 3 cylinder Mitsu motor. I suspect that high was for the complete power assembly.
needles to say I passed... I am a cheapskate and no way I pay that much when I have recently (well, 4 years ago) had delivered a factory rebuilt Ford V10 crate motor for $3800 with no core charge (was $2900 with exchange)
I figured I would check back when the 451s were 3 or 4 years old
