Yeah,I'm with A2Jack on the tapping noise.
Mine makes a most annoying tapping at idle, sometimes louder than other, worst when rode hard and put in the barn wet. I won't truly ignore it until I see with my own eyes which part is doing it.From my earlier days in street racing big motored Chevys, that noise sounds exactly like a defective throw out bearing in the clutch assembly.

Normal, in that it is a common problem with our cars.

But no, new, gas auto engine should make tap-rap-ticking sounds. At least until we know what is causing it, and we, our selfs, are assured no major damage is occurring that will surprise us in the future. A2Jack.

Tic, tic tic. Update.

Car went back into HQ Smart shop today. Tech (now back from France) and service Manager went through it again and have acknowledged there is a problem. New parts have been ordered.

Wife took the car in as she had a call out in Bloomfield, as such, I didn't get to speak to the shop folks, but will call them next week. They are quoting two hours to do the deed when the parts come in. I will post when I have more info.

Here's a link to another thread, and a pix of our dirty engine showing the purge valve location.
Purge Valve exonerated.

So, any update on this? What did they replace? Did it eliminate the tapping sound?
