Engine service light went on then off

Yesterday, after starting up in the garage, the service light went on. I drove it 15 miles, turned the car off. Turned it on again and the engine light went off. My Scanguage did not pull any codes from the car when the light was on.

Has anyone experienced this? This would be the 2nd time in 4000 that the light has gone on. The first time was my bad-I didn't tighten the gas cap.

By any chance, did you (unknowingly) try to do the same expecting a different outcome?...

Mine did the same thing, except the scangauge showed PO410, "faulty secondary air intake thingy". If yours turns out to be the same, don't panic. It has no effect on drive-ability. Contact the service dept. to make sure they have a replacement part...then just make an appointment. Takes about an hour to replace.

Only took me about a half hour to get mine done when it happened to me. No problem driving with that light on, though. This has happened to a lot of people.

This happened to me for the first time on day 2 of ownership, last Thursday. I was at a stoplight w/ A/C on and the engine light came on along with a rough idle. I drove home, about 8 miles, and the car was running rough and could only keep up with traffic (45-50 mph) in 4th gear. When I got home, I checked the Scangauge and there were no codes. I shut it off for a few seconds, started it up and everything was normal.

This has happened about 3 times since, twice after only 2 miles of leaving my driveway. And every time I just shut it off and it is fine for the rest of the day that I am driving it.

Only once was I able to get a code from the Scangauge which was P0303, misfire in cyl. #3.

I haven't had a chance to bring it to the dealer, but if it isn't doing it when I get there, there is no use to waste the time for them to say we couldn't find anything. I think I will call the service dept. to put the problem "on record" though.

My SG did not register any codes at all while the light was on. Then it turned itself off. I have the dealership looking at it today.

250 miles. Passion.

Hard accelaration then a block later the check engine light flckered on, I was running on 2 cylinders really rough. I pulled over, turned the car off then on. Engine light went off and everything was fine for 5 miles. Again rough running at a stop. I pulled over turned the car off and on again, but the engine light stayed on. Car drove OK.

I brought it in to the dealer this evening. Wouldn't you know, between the sales room and the service department across the road, the light went off.

I left the car with them, they're checking the car out on Monday.

when i got the P0410 code (secondary air injection solenoid went out), my engine light went on for about two days, and then went out all by itself. the fault code still remained in the car's memory , and the Mercedes service dudes read the fault and replaced the solenoid...

Update:

The code said "No fuel" I'm picking up the car tomorrow, something about a sparkplug, I'll let you know more after I get the car.
