Error codes?

I have noticed that sometimes, not all the time, my dash blinks a little wrench and a "-17" where the mileage is. Perhaps a reminder that 10K is coming up in 3,000 miles? Seems a bit early if it is.
Anyone seen this or have access to code translations?

That's a common question, in fact. The wrench and countdown indicate the number of days until your next service is scheduled. Some cars sat on a lot or on a boat for a few weeks/months before they were even driven and the time countdown seems a bit early. Regardless, if the oil's been in the engine for a year, it's still a year old and probably needs replacing anyway. Color's not a great indicator, so if you're only 3k away, consider taking it in early.

I think it's time as well. I am very in tune with the car, and have noticed a few things. Response is a little off, acceleration after shift points is a bit cranky. Cruise speed is about the same... very smooth. Power in upper gears is still surprisingly exceptional.
Thanks!

My Smart started doing this yesterday. Yesterday, little wrench and "-5". Today it's little wrench and "-7". These go out after about a minute. The car was new last August. I had the oil changed at 1200 miles in December. I now have 3500 miles. So I'm a little confused by the idea that this is a countdown to anything.

I can't find any other threads/posts about this either. I thought it was a common question?

That is the number of days past your needed service. Just reset the counter. it will reset to 10,000 mile though. It could also mean days over a year since your service. it is 10,000 mile or 12 months.
